From indica and sativa to OG Kush or Super Silver Haze. There is so much theory about weed, but what does it tell us? In this blog we explain you what means what.
Hash and weed are sold under many names. There are many varieties grown from a few main varieties. And there are hundreds of different substances, cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids, in the cannabis plant that influence taste, smell and effect.
One variety sometimes produces a stronger plant, while the other produces more flowers. For example, certain varieties can have a sweeter or stronger taste than others or have a different smell. These are different strains, that have different names, like White Widowor Banana Kush. It can be compared to tulips of which there are also many varieties.

In the end, all the different species can be traced back to the hemp plant. The hemp plant has three main species: Sativa, Indica and Ruderalis. Sativa is larger than the Indica and has thinner leaves. Sativa usually contains more THC. Indica grows faster so produces more yield. Rudelaris contains hardly any THC. The main species cross and split into new varieties. These can also be crossed again. Species in the coffeeshop are almost always crosses between Cannabis sativa and Cannabis indica.
