How to roll the perfect joint

It takes time and skill to master the art of rolling a joint. Keep at it and you’ll soon be a pro, even if you suck at it in the beginning. Want to speed up the process? Here are some pointers for newbies on how to roll the perfect joint.

Grind your weed

Weed is easier to roll if it has the same consistency. You can grind your weed with a grinder or with other tools. But since grinders aren’t really expensive we would suggest you use one.

Remove sticks and stems

Sticks and stems can really mess up your joint. That’s why it’s important to remove them before you start rolling. For beginners it’s even better to combine this with thick paper: the thinner, the harder to roll your first joints.

Rolling the perfect joint takes practice, but with the right technique, you’ll be a pro in no time. Learn the step-by-step process here.

Easy on the roll

Most people who start rolling their own joints, over do it at first. Of course it’s fun and a good way to get the feeling, but a good joint just needs a few rolls. Really, don’t over do it.

Insert paper

The corner of the paper - choose the side that corresponds with your dominant hand -  should be tucked in first once the weed has been rolled. The remaining paper should then be tucked in while carefully following the seam.

Lick it (gently)

The sticky part of the paper really does not need much saliva. Just lick it gently - it’s enough.

Tap & twist

Once you’ve rolled the joint, you keep the open end up. First, stamp it a little bit so the weed (and maybe tobacco) stick together nicely and the joint burns slower. Second, twist the end so nothing can fall out.
