Are you planning a visit to the Netherlands? Chances are you might consider enjoying a joint while you’re here. But let’s get right to it: weed is not fully legal in the Netherlands. It’s tolerated, meaning it’s not exactly legal, but it’s also not strictly illegal. It’s a bit of a grey area, you see?
Just like in many countries, smoking tobacco indoors is prohibited throughout the Netherlands, including Amsterdam. However, you can still enjoy a joint in coffee shops, with one important condition – you mustn’t mix it with tobacco. When it comes to smoking on the streets, you’re generally allowed in most places, as long as it’s not on a terrace or in specific designated areas.
